What happened to the submission grinder? ›

It was always planned to be a limited-time project, such as a one-time anthology, and the limited-time submission window has ended. The publisher has stated that they are permanently closed, or on hiatus with wording that makes it sound permanent.

Long time publisher TTA Press has announced that the latest issue, Interzone 292/293, will be its last. The magazine has been sold to MYY Press. The new editor is Gareth Jelley.

Most agents receive between 5,000 and 20,000 or more submissions a year and choose only a few carefully selected projects to send to editors. Agents may specialize in certain areas or they may be generalists, but all have to reject way way way more projects than they are able to take on.

The editors will try to make a decision within 2 days. (37.4 % of the responses reported to us for this listing have taken longer than 2 days.) Do not query on the status of your submission before 14 days have passed.

In essence, to create the experience of the uncanny, a writer must take something familiar to her readers and make it unfamiliar. That unfamiliarity should involve an unrepressed emotional state and teeter both characters and readers on the very edge of reality.
